Does Chevy Make a Hybrid?

Chevy has the market cornered when it comes to gas-powered and fully electric vehicles, but when it comes to hybrid options, that’s a different story. In fact, that story has yet to be written.

Chevy currently offers no hybrid or plug-in hybrid models, and GM Authority reports that CEO Mary Barra reiterated at the Automotive Press Association event in January this year that the automotive titan is actively working on a Chevy hybrid and plug-in hybrid strategy for the U.S. market.

“GM previously announced plans to launch new plug-in hybrid models in the North American auto market by 2027,” GM Authority reported. However, which Chevy models would receive the hybrid treatment was not specified.

Rumors circulated that the newly released 2027 Chevy Silverado would offer a new hybrid powertrain for its next generation, but the rumor went unfounded.

GM Authority spoke with Chevrolet Chief Marketing Officer Steve Majoros about a hybrid option for the next-generation pickup, but the message was clear: not at this time.

“There’s no news that we’re gonna talk about today of any hybrid or PHEV configuration. The four-engine portfolio, we think, is really meeting our customer demand,” Majoros told GM Authority.
