Buckle up and get ready for the ride of a lifetime because the Corvette Grand Sport is back!

At the 12 Hours of Sebring IMSA race in Florida, Chevy brought out beloved models from the C2, C4, C6, and C7 generations to show off with a lap around the track. What we didn’t expect, however, was the surprise reveal of the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport.

Born in the early 1960s as a limited run of five second-generation race cars, the Grand Sport is making a comeback and seeking to create a new legend with its arrival.

Rebuilding History: The 2027 Grand Sport

When the Grand Sport was first unveiled, it had one purpose and one purpose only: to dominate the world of racing. Its lightweight design offered a new level of agility on the race track, while its design elements made it look as fast as it drove.

As the 2027 Grand Sport makes its comeback, it pays homage to its past while leaning into its future.

The signature Grand Sport hash marks, seen on the front fenders in previous generations, now appear on the rear of the car for the first time.

Avid fans of the C4 generation may notice a familiar blue hue joining the color palette for 2027. The Admiral Blue Metallic exterior paint shade delivers a striking presentation, paired with the white center stripe and red hash Grand Sport appearance, leaving your jaw on the floor.

If you can’t get enough of the blue hue, the Grand Sport lineup will offer a Launch Edition interior, which will feature:

  • A Santorini blue-dipped interior with rec stitching and accents
  • Leather-wrapped hood over the driver’s information center
  • Waterfall speaker plaque
  • Grand Sport exterior plan view outline embossed on the headrests

Unleashing a New Era of Performance for the 2027 Chevrolet Corvette

The 2027 Corvette Grand Sport arrives with a new generation of power: a V8 engine. The LS6 6.7-liter V8, which will power the Grand Sport and Stingray models, is poised to deliver an outstanding 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque, ushering in a new era of performance for the everyday race car.

According to GM, “A larger 6.7L (409 cu in) displacement and 13.0:1 compression ratio sharpen response, while a 95-mm throttle body and tunnel ram intake with high-velocity ports move more air to unlock additional power.”

In layman’s terms, the LS6 will be unleashing a whole lot of power on the open road.

The LS6 will operate with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The 2027 Grand Sport X: The Creation of a Legacy

The Corvette Grand Sport is not arriving back on the scene alone–it’s bringing reinforcements.

The Corvette Grand Sport X builds upon the formula that made the Grand Sport an automotive legend, with a few adjustments to start building its own story.

The Grand Sport X will pair with the new LS6 V8 engine, along with a 186-horsepower electric motor borrowed from the Corvette ZR1X, to create a ride that’s confident in rain or shine.

For drivers who enjoyed the ability to control power distribution behind the wheel of the ZR1X, you’re in luck–the Grand Sport X will offer the same capabilities, putting you in the driver’s seat both literally and figuratively.

Other features for the new Corvette in 2027 include:

  • Magnetic Ride Control
  • Carbon-ceramic brakes
  • Michelin Pilot Sport all-season 4 tires
  • Available Performance Package
  • Electric-only Stealth mode
