Take A Peek At The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado From
Team Auto - A Winston Salem Area Chevy Dealer

Full-size trucks are very popular, but not everyone needs a big hauler. If you don’t need a full-size truck or you want a great family hauler, the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado should be at the top of your list. With three engines to choose from, several cab and bed configurations, towing capacity of 7,700 pounds, and maneuverability that makes it nimble enough for city driving, it’s no wonder the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado is a hit at the Woodbury area Chevy dealer.

New features include a revised V-6 engine that’s mated to a new eight-speed automatic gearbox. This block is now slightly more powerful, although not at the expense of fuel economy.

The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado extended cab models are offered in two- and four-seat models. Crew Cabs come in five-seat models. There are two bed lengths. Four trim levels are available at dealers like the Woodbury area Chevy dealer: Base, Work Truck (WT), LT and Z71.

Three different powerplants are offered on the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado:

  • A standard 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder that makes 200 horsepower and 191 lb.-ft of torque, paired with a manual or automatic six-speed transmission.
  • A 3.6-liter V-6 that makes 308 hp and 276 lb.-ft. of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
  • A turbodiesel (Crew Cab models only) that generates 181 hp and an impressive 369 lb.-ft. of torque.

KBB Praises The Winston Salem Area Chevy Colorado

Here’s what Kelley Blue Book wrote about the diesel engine: “The Chevrolet Colorado is the only midsize truck available with a diesel engine (GMC Canyon notwithstanding), and the 2.8-liter Duramax diesel is a gem. Smooth and powerful, it offers up an excellent driving experience and superior fuel economy to anything else in the market.”

EPA-estimated fuel economy for the rear-wheel drive Colorado's standard four-cylinder engine with the six-speed automatic transmission is 20 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.* With the six-speed manual transmission, that number drops by 1 mpg. The Colorado with the V-6 gets 18 mpg city/25 mpg highway. Fuel economy drops only slightly with four-wheel drive. The turbodiesel engine is rated at 22 mpg city/30 mpg highway.

Towing capacity for the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado varies depending on engine choice. The base engine has a capacity of 3,500 pounds, while the V-6 can pull up to 7,000 pounds. The turbodiesel engine in a Colorado with rear-wheel drive can tow 7,700 pounds, an exceptional capability for a midsize truck.

The 2017 Colorado features the latest safety equipment, including stability and traction control, trailer sway control, antilock disc brakes, side curtain airbags, front seat side impact airbags, and a rearview camera.

Upper trims get OnStar standard. Chevrolet’s emergency telematics system includes state-of-the-art technology, including emergency crash notification, stolen vehicle notification, and remote locking and unlocking. The optional Safety package is offered for the LT trim; it features forward collision systems and lane departure warning.
